American Global is proud to announce the appointment of Christine Philips as President of California, a key leadership role that solidifies the broker’s official presence in California. Based out of Los Angeles, Christine will build and lead a team of insurance and surety professionals dedicated to supporting both current and future clients. While the firm already has an established California client base, the opening of its Los Angeles office will position American Global to better service its national and local clients. The Los Angeles location is American Global’s 12th US-based office and 16th location globally, reinforcing the firm’s commitment to serve the construction industry from coast to coast and around the world.
In her role as President, Christine will oversee the strategic vision and operations of the California office, working closely with American Global’s executive leadership team to drive growth, build strong client relationships, and ensure excellence in service, fostering the same high-performance and collaborative culture to align with American Global’s core values and history.
Christine brings 25 years’ experience in insurance risk management, having worked in both insurance brokerage and risk management roles. Most recently, she served as Vice President and casualty executive, where she was responsible for overseeing comprehensive client insurance programs and driving strategic initiatives in coordination with actuarial, claims, and loss control teams at a global broker.
Prior to that, Christine spent nearly eight years at Bernards Bros Inc., a premier general contractor, where she built and led the company’s internal Risk Management department. As Senior Director, she managed corporate insurance programs including complex risk financing and risk management solutions as well as claims. She also led captive management and oversaw risk management and insurance budgeting while coordinating across departments to protect company assets and mitigate exposures. Christine’s longstanding focus has been on construction and commercial insurance solutions, and her professional journey has been marked by growth, innovation and a desire to succeed.
Christine is excited for the opportunity, saying "I'm thrilled to be starting something meaningful right here in my hometown-working alongside my fellow risk management professionals and collaborating with the exceptional team at AG. Together, we're building something great, and I couldn't be more excited about the journey ahead."
COO & Group President David Marino said “We are excited to have Christine join our team. Her depth of construction knowledge and proven leadership skills make her the perfect choice to build and lead our first West Coast office. Her commitment to excellence will ensure that American Global is well represented in the California markets as well as the construction community at large.”
Michael Marino, Chairman & CEO added, “A strong California presence has been part of the plan for American Global since our inception, and we are thrilled to see it come to fruition. Christine is a proven leader who shares our values and vision for the future. With Christine at the helm, I am confident our California operations will continue to enhance our service offerings to clients, partners, and colleagues.”
Christine attended California State University, Northridge, majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. She holds licenses as a Property, Casualty, Life and Health Insurance Broker/Agent and has held the Construction Risk Insurance Specialist (CRIS) designation.
