As part of an ongoing commitment to help support the communities they serve, American Global hosted its annual fundraising event and soccer tournament on January 30th. With 2025 marking the start of the firm’s second decade in business, this popular event was newly rebranded as the Miami C3 Summit. This year, the full day, 3-part summit welcomed more than 400 carriers, clients and colleagues and raised more than $150,000 to benefit the YMCA of South Florida.
The day began with a lively panel discussion on “Evolving Technologies: AI in Construction” featuring distinguished guests from two best-in-class general contracting firms, Hamzah Shanbari, Director of Innovation for Haskell and Jake Landreneau, Vice President of Innovation for Juneau Construction Company. They were joined by carrier representatives Douglas Schrift, Chief Underwriting Officer at Liberty Mutual and Ryan Powers, SVP and Head of Construction for QBE. The panel discussion and Q&A were moderated by American Global’s Vice President of Innovation & Insights Chris Greene.
Following the presentation, guests donned their jerseys and boarded buses to the local soccer stadium for some food truck favorites before hitting the fields for a memorable 16-team tournament, including some new faces on our “free agent” team and a talented squad from the YMCA! For the third consecutive year, Team American Global (AG1) made it to the semi-finals, but lost a close match to the eventual 2025 Champions, Chubb.
Also new this year, was the opportunity for companies to choose a special donation ‘sponsorship.’ Thanks to the incredible generosity of the sponsors listed below, fundraising efforts got off to a fast start, with donations totaling more than $40,000 almost immediately:
- Conference Sponsor: Railroad Construction Company
- Breakfast Sponsor: Chubb
- Tournament Sponsor: GC COM Construction Company
- Cocktail Sponsor: RT Specialty
- Food Truck Sponsor: Northeast Structural Steel
- Transportation Sponsors:
Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance, CRC Group, Tango Specialty & The Hartford - Field Sponsors:
BMO Bank, Brown & Riding, Insight Risk, Liberty Mutual and Starr Insurance
YMCA COO Tara Montenaro said, “By partnering with us, you are helping kids build confidence, character, and a brighter future. We’re truly grateful for your commitment to making a lasting impact in their lives. Thank you for believing in the power of youth development. Together, we’re making a real difference.”
The closing cocktail reception, along the banks of the Miami River, gave attendees another opportunity to network and celebrate new friendships (or rivalries) forged on the fields. However, the highlight of the evening came after American Global CEO Michael Marino expressed his gratitude to all those who attended and contributed, by announcing two more substantial last-minute donations for $15,000 each, courtesy of NV2A and GC COM (also a tournament sponsor!). With American Global’s dollar-for-dollar match of $58,00 plus the two additional contributions, our total donation to the YMCA will exceed $150,000, more than three times larger than last year’s record donation of $50,000!
In closing, Michael Marino noted, “This past year, American Global has experienced tremendous growth across our organization, and that growth is clearly echoed by the increased numbers at this summit, helping us surpass our goals for both attendance and contributions. American Global is proud to host an event that brings us together for a day of education and team-building while also shining a light on the incredible generosity of those in the construction industry of which we are proud to be a part of. We cannot thank everyone enough for their contributions and look forward to another outstanding event in 2026!”
