Seattle, Washington-based Herzog Glass has become the first glazing contractor in Washington State and 70th overall to earn North American Contractor Certification (NACC). NACC is an ANSI-accredited, award-winning, third-party credential that recognizes architectural glass and metal contractors who adhere to best practices for quality, safety, and business operations. By earning NACC, Herzog Glass affirmed its commitment to excellence and adherence to industry-leading standards in the glazing profession.
“We are thrilled to be recognized as Washington State’s inaugural NACC certified glazing contractor,” said Herzog Glass President Joe Kaiser. “This certification underscores our dedication to providing our clients with superior services and upholding the highest standards of professionalism in the industry.
During six months of preparation, Herzog Glass underwent a series of rigorous assessments to document and implement written procedures in a Quality Management System (QMS), a requirement of all certified contractors. To maintain certification, Herzog Glass will be reevaluated annually to confirm its business and glazing practices remain at the high standards NACC requires.
“It was important to earn NACC because I saw the rigorous process as a way to make our business stronger,” added Kaiser. “Better safety, better quality, and uniformity through processes and documentation will help solidify our position as a leader in the glazing industry and offer our customers peace of mind knowing their projects will be executed with precision and expertise.”
Herzog Glass completes interior and exterior glazing projects for commercial, industrial, and residential clients, and has built a reputation for iconic and challenging work. The company recently installed the podium-level exterior glazing and all interior glass at the new Summit building at Washington State Convention Center and performed the full interior and exterior glazing scope at the recently renovated Space Needle. Herzog Glass is a signatory member of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT) District Council 5, employing glaziers of Local Union 188.
“By becoming the first to earn NACC in Washington state, Herzog Glass has set a high bar for quality and reliability,” said NACC Program Director Jeff Dalaba. “General contractors, construction managers, architects, and owners can be confident that Herzog Glass’ certification indicates expert craftsmanship, high quality, and minimized risk.”
Since its 2015 launch, the NACC program has certified 70 glazing subcontractors in 23 states and Canada. Over 25 more companies are progressing toward certification in 2024. Glazing contractors can earn the NACC credential in one or more of eight categories based on the company’s operations: interior and exterior entry systems, interior glazing, building envelope low-rise, building envelope high-rise, horizontal glazing, active glass, and service work. Herzog Glass earned NACC in all eight categories.
