The parcel of land that the Samaan Development partners newly built on in Passaic, NJ used to be an abandoned and decommissioned train yard.
The company's redevelopment concept was to maintain a central historic area of Passaic, by offering new residents a masterplanned, multifamily housing and mixed use destination called THE STATION.
After a three year battle in federal court to have it removed due to neglect, Samaan was able, with the help of the city and Mayor Hector C. Lorca, to get the project greenlit for affordable housing.
The Station opens its phase 1 residences, anchored by mixed use retail in February 2024.
Interior finishes and commercial amenities are created by Samaan Design Group.
•250 Multi-unit, mixed-use buildings will better the community and offer quality housing for the growing population locally, and the city is committed to creating a public greenspace surrounding the property.
•There will be 5-6 retail spaces on the Passaic Street side of the project. In the first building, a restaurant and a nextdoor spa facility will open in February 2024.
•There are 55 2-bedroom 1-bath apartments about 1,000sqft per unit with interiors and community spaces by Samaan Design Group.
Development and construction partners are brothers Jack and Fadi Samaan, who like the city's Mayor, are natives of Passaic, New Jersey.
Samaan Development is a privately held construction firm, which partners with Samaan Design Group on largescale multifamily housing and commercial mixed use projects.
