ALICE Technologies and Bouygues Travaux Publics – one of the largest companies in the civil works sector – today announced that Bouygues Travaux Publics has selected ALICE for use on multiple complex projects around the world. ALICE Technologies’ construction simulation and optimization platform helps general contractors to leverage the power of artificial intelligence (AI) to plan, bid and build challenging, large-scale infrastructure and commercial projects more efficiently and with reduced risk.
Bouygues Travaux Publics is an expert in complex projects involving tunnels, engineering structures and road, port, and rail infrastructures. The company has acknowledged expertise in managing large-scale projects and focuses its development on technically demanding operations with high added value, such as the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, the Port of Miami Tunnel, the Principality of Monaco Offshore Extension, and the Nîmes-Montpellier Rail Bypass.
Bouygues Travaux Publics plans to use the ALICE platform on key projects from preconstruction through project delivery. During preconstruction, Bouygues Travaux Publics team members will use ALICE for “optioneering” – to explore the scenarios that make the most efficient use of project resources (labor, equipment, and materials) and to test the impact of changes in key variables on project outcomes. For example, a manager might use ALICE Precon to determine how the addition of a second tunnel boring machine could affect the speed and cost of a major tunnel project. The rigorous use of AI to create and test options will enable Bouygues Travaux Publics to submit the precise, well-tested bids it needs to win profitable business. When it comes to the execution phase, the company will then use ALICE Manage to keep its projects on time and on budget. If circumstances change – as they inevitably do on most construction projects – the Bouygues Travaux Publics team can then use ALICE to quickly update project plans and recover from project delays.
“ALICE is ideally suited to help us to win and deliver the big infrastructure projects that represent the core of our business at Bouygues Travaux Publics,” said Bertrand Burtschell, Deputy CEO at Bouygues Travaux Publics. “In the design and commercial phases, thanks to the ALICE platform, we can use the power of AI to design the optimal plans. In the production phase, ALICE will help us to reduce execution risk and ensure that we hit our schedule and budget targets. We see great potential in this partnership, and we are looking forward to putting the ALICE platform to work on our projects worldwide.”
“Bouygues is a technology leader in the construction segment and takes on some of the most challenging projects in the world,” said ALICE technologies founder and CEO René Morkos. “We are excited to help them tackle this work – from tunnels and bridges to ports and roadways. And we value the opportunity to collaborate with a company that has their vision and ambition.” For more information, please visit www.alicetechnologies.com.
