Cover Letter:
Attached is a press release regarding the purchase of the SpectraGlaze company last March. We’ve waited this long to announce the transaction because we wanted to make sure we had the opportunity to implement some significant changes first.
Some of the changes SpectraGlaze customers will notice pretty quickly:
• Fast, courteous and helpful customer service
• Rapid production and shipping from a central location in the U.S. (North Texas), meaning both the cost and time to have the material shipped can be reduced
• A greatly improved website, containing more and better information for architects, contractors and potential licensees
• Improved quality control
• A wide range of standard colors – but custom colors are available too – without blowing the schedule or breaking the bank
And we’ve got other improvements to be rolled out over the next year, including:
• We’re actively growing our network of SpectraGlaze licensees, so that SpectraGlaze can be provided from additional locations across the U.S. -- which means freight costs, and the time to ship to your site can be greatly reduced.
• Most of the issues we have seen with SpectraGlaze over the years (we were licensees before we purchased the company), have had to do with installation. We’re working to have more drawings and videos on our website, so that masons can review proper installation tips and techniques prior to installation – which should lead to fewer issues and fewer delays.
With the purchase came SpectraGlaze’s membership in our Hi-Standard Family of Companies. The story of these companies and how they started and grew is pretty interesting, and underscores the difference a customer-oriented business approach can make.
We’d love to tell you more about the company, as well as this beautiful and versatile product -- and our plans for exceeding the imaginations of architects and the expectations of contractors. I’ll be in touch soon – or please feel free to call me at 214.415.3203 or email at [email protected].
I look forward to talking with you!

RELEASE:
FORT WORTH, Texas (August 15, 2017) – Texas Building Products (TBP), a member of The Hi-Standard Family of Companies and a leading manufacturer of concrete masonry, recently announced the March, 2017, acquisition of SpectraGlaze® from Burns & Russell Companies of Baltimore, Md. Along with new ownership, SpectraGlaze also has a new logo and completely redesigned website at www.spectraglaze.com.
SpectraGlaze concrete masonry block has been produced for more than 60 years and set the international standard for glazed finishes integrally bonded to concrete block. It is an innovative, cost-saving, high performance pre-finished concrete block that has been used to construct all types of structures worldwide. Available in a wide variety of colors, SpectraGlaze concrete masonry units are resistant to soiling, chemicals, marking, impact, abrasion, urine, blood and acid rain. In addition, they are fire-safe, non-toxic and meet all national building codes, as well as USDA and OSHA requirements for sanitary walls. TBP has been a SpectraGlaze-licensed producer for more than 20 years.
“With the main manufacturing location for SpectraGlaze moving from Maryland to Texas, much of our product will now be shipped from a more central location – and freight will be less of a cost factor than in the past,” said Bruce Fowler, owner of The Hi-Standard Family of Companies. “We are also actively soliciting licensees to manufacture the product in other locations across North America, making SpectraGlaze more accessible than ever. We are fully committed to providing our customers with high-value products that also have an important future in the masonry industry.”
The new logo for SpectraGlaze was commissioned to establish the new brand’s identity and, with its colorful blocks, represents the wide variety of colors and applications for its use. The new website has been designed to provide a user-friendly experience with improved navigation and functionality, allowing designers, customers and contractors access to detailed product information.
The Hi-Standard Family of Companies is proud to add SpectraGlaze to their umbrella of masonry materials companies including Texas Building Products, Builders Cast Stone and Builders Equipment and Supply Company.
