- The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is issuing a rule that will make cranes in underground projects and demolition work subject to the same safety rules issued in August 2010 for conventional construction cranes and derricks.
- The rule will take effect Nov. 15 unless the agency gets enough objections to make it hold off and continue public comment. Comments are due by Sept. 17.
- Having one rule, OSHA said in a statement, "will streamline OSHA's standards by eliminating the separate cranes and derricks standard currently used for underground and demolition work."
