Dive Insight:
In the Business Journal's 2015 Book of Lists, Turner was second on the list of top general contractors, 10th for fastest-growing companies, fourth for most interns and 14th for largest privately held companies and nonprofits.
Turner officials said the award is a high achievement, as the reviews were anonymous. "When you look at an award like Glassdoor's, and you look at the other winners, they're some of the top companies in the country," Carl Stewart, Turner vice president and general manager, said. "That says a lot."
Recently, M. Arthur Gensler, founder of Gensler — which is the largest architecture and design firm in the world — celebrated the company's 50th anniversary. During the Dodge Executive Outlook Conference, Gensler shared how he built a company that grew from just three employees to a staff of 5,000 people in 46 locations. His advice included a focus on building a strong company culture and emphasis on retaining the top talent.
