Dive Brief:
- An organization called Environment America compiled data on metro areas with the greatest installed solar photovoltaic power capacity and the most capacity per capita as of last year. That's information builders and contractors may want to know if they're in or looking at those markets.
- Not all of the cities on the lists are surprises, but the No. 1 city in per-capita solar power capacity is Honolulu, No. 3 in Wilmington, Del., and No. 5 is Indianapolis.
- The list of cities with the most installed solar power capacity falls more inline with expectations – the top four are in California and Arizona – but builders note: The Top 20 includes Newark, N.J., Raleigh, N.C., and Boston.
Dive Insight:
Some builders will be well-versed in solar or even make it a competitive advantage, but it's good to know places where there seem to be a lot of customers having solar built in.
