California-based contractor Swinerton tapped Bay Area construction vet Jennifer Lauritzen to lead its Silicon Valley office in Santa Clara as vice president and division manager.
A resident of San Jose, Lauritzen comes into the role with more than two decades of California construction experience. After earning a degree in construction management from Colorado State University, Lauritzen started her career at Redwood City, California-based DPR Construction and has worked for various contractors throughout the Golden State.
In 2005, she came into the Swinerton family when the firm acquired Sacramento-based HMH Builders, where she was serving as a senior project manager focused on health care, according to her LinkedIn profile.
“One of my passions in life is aligning and inspiring teams,” Lauritzen said in a news release. “I am thrilled by the opportunity to collaborate, challenge and empower our Silicon Valley team members to maximize their potential and deliver spaces that truly make a difference in our communities.”
At Swinerton, Lauritzen has steadily progressed through various roles, contributing her expertise to significant healthcare, technology, office and public works projects. That background should serve her well in the Silicon Valley region, where the firm is currently working on approximately $200 million in projects.
Ongoing jobs include the Milpitas Unified School District Performing Arts Center, multiple projects with Stanford University and Stanford Health Care, low-cost rental housing in Salinas Valley, the West Valley Community College Learning Resource Center, confidential fintech institutions and the Santa Clara Unified School District K-12 Agnews campus.
Lauritzen’s California construction roots align well with Swinerton’s, which was founded in 1888 and holds California contractor’s license No. 92. The firm is one of only five California contractors that still hold original licenses from the first 100 issued in the state, according to the California Contractors State License Board.
