Tempe, Arizona-based Sundt Construction has promoted David Rieken to vice president and regional manager responsible for municipal water and wastewater work in the southeastern U.S., the company announced in a release shared with Construction Dive.
Rieken, who is based in Tampa, Florida, previously served as a regional manager for Sundt. He’s worked for the contractor since April 2021, according to his LinkedIn profile, but has over 28 years of experience in construction and engineering in large water and wastewater infrastructure, the release said. Rieken previously worked for The Haskell Co. after 15 years at McCarthy, according to LinkedIn.
He’s delivered projects using design-build, construction manager at risk and engineer-procurement-construction methods.
“David’s expertise in water and wastewater construction combined with his leadership skills bring tremendous value as we build our presence in the Southeast United States,” Sundt Industrial Group President Cade Rowley said in the release.
After earning a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Washington in Seattle, Rieken became a licensed professional engineer in the state.
Sundt’s work in the Southeast goes back five decades, according to the release. Work in the region includes Launch Pad 39A at Kennedy Space Center and the concrete core of One Atlantic Center in Atlanta.
