A report done by university researchers says that the data clearly show there are 50% more injuries to workers on LREED projects than in comparable conventional construction.
The team from the University of Colorado Boulder offered ideas for how to cut that difference, however.
There were more than a dozen LEED requirements that came with increased injury risk, the report – “Identification of Safety Risks for High-Performance Sustainable Construction Projects” – found. One example was injuries from installing heavy solar panels on rooftops.
The report was published in the Journal of Construction Engineering and Management.
