- Richard Cavallaro, president and CEO of Skanska USA, has been elected chair of the New York City Building Congress, The Real Deal reported. The NYCBC is a trade association that advocates on behalf of the construction industry in New York.
- Cavallaro, part of the nine-member executive team that runs Skanska's global operations, began his career as an airport engineer for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. He joined Skanska in 1996 as a senior estimator and has led the company in streamlining and efficiency efforts, according to Skanska.
- Cavallaro succeeds Thomas Scarangello, President and CEO of Thornton Tomasetti. Scarangello created the Building Congress Task Force on Innovation and Best Practices, and Cavallaro has said he will continue that work.

Skanska is one of the world's largest construction companies and has been the primary contractor, or joint venture partner, on some very high-profile projects in the U.S.
Skanska has also racked up an impressive portfolio of other U.S. jobs including more than $320 million for the reconstruction of the Rockaway Beach, NY, boardwalk; a $72 million school modernization project in Washington, DC, and a $2.3 billion highway project near Orlando, FL.
