A 40-year lease for the Middle Harbor property at the Port of Long Beach would be the largest deal of its kind for any U.S. seaport, says Christopher Lytle, the port's executive director.
The agreement with Orient Overseas Container Line will go to the Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners' Finance and Administration Committee on Monday.
The Middle Harbor project will cost $1.2 billion. Backers say it will result in 14,000 permanent jobs by 2020.
