Associated General Contractors crunched jobs numbers from around the country and found that more metropolitan areas gained construction employment than lost positions between December 2010 and the end of last year.
Going over federal government data, AGC determined that "construction employment increased in 148 out of 337 metropolitan areas between December 2010 and December 2011, decreased in 128 and stayed level in 61."
"Many communities are benefitting from growing demand from the private sector for new construction activity," Ken Simonson, AGC’s chief economist, said of the report.
