UPDATE: May 9, 2024: Search teams have located the body of a sixth and final worker who went missing after the collapse of the Key Bridge near Baltimore in late March.
Authorities announced that the body of José Mynor López, 37, was recovered from the Patapsco River on Tuesday. He was one of six workers who fell to their deaths when the container ship Dali crashed into one of the bridge’s supporting columns on March 26.
“With heavy hearts, today marks a significant milestone in our recovery efforts and providing closure to the loved ones of the six workers who lost their lives in this tragic event,” Maryland State Police Superintendent Roland Butler said in the statement.
The announcement follows the recovery of a fifth person’s body in late April. Authorities identified that victim as Miguel Angel Luna Gonzalez, 49, of Glen Burnie, Maryland.

Officials have recovered the body of a fourth worker at the site of the collapsed Francis Scott Key Bridge near Baltimore, according to a release.
Crews found the deceased victim trapped inside a construction vehicle on Sunday, and the victim was positively identified on Monday. The identity of the victim has not been disclosed at the request of the family.
“As we mourn the lives lost and continue the recovery operation, we recognize each missing individual is someone’s beloved friend or family member,” said Colonel Roland L. Butler Jr., Superintendent of the Maryland Department of State Police, “Along with all of our allied law enforcement partners, we pledge to exhaust the physical and technical aspects of their training while deploying every available resource possible.”
A total of eight construction workers fell into the Patapsco River on March 26 when the Key Bridge collapsed at 1:30 a.m. Two were quickly rescued, but the remaining six were presumed dead after searches in the days following the collapse failed to locate them in the wreckage.
Authorities then recovered the bodies of three victims in the ensuing weeks. Those victims have been identified as Maynor Yassir Suazo Sandoval, 38; Dorlian Ronial Castillo Cabrera, 26; and Alejandro “Alex” Hernández Fuentes, 35.
