Oakland Terrace, Illinois-based Graycor has tapped Dave Wing as the company’s new CEO, according to a Dec. 3 news release. Prior to his appointment, Wing was the president and chief operating officer of Graycor for five years.
Wing started work with Graycor as a project engineer in 1991, according to the announcement. During his 33-year tenure, Wing was promoted several times, including to his most recent position of COO. In that role, he focused on short- and long-term strategic planning, developing a talent pipeline and creating strategies to improve management practices and introduce efficiencies.
Wing’s appointment also carries a historically significant milestone for the builder — he’s the first CEO who isn’t a member of the Gray family, which founded the company in 1921. The company’s prior CEO, Mel Gray, started in the position 1971 and last served in 2013, a public relations official for the company told Construction Dive.
"In his new role, Dave will provide direction and leadership in Graycor's next chapter while maintaining focus on our people, our performance excellence standards and our ever-evolving client partnerships,” said Matthew Gray, Graycor co-chair, in the release.
Graycor provides construction-manager at-risk, self-perform and design-build services, according to the company’s website. It works across sectors that include education, healthcare, manufacturing, gas infrastructure and corporate builds. The company is aiming to reach $1 billion in revenue, according to the release.
Graycor was ranked No. 231 on Engineering News-Record’s list of the top 400 contractors in the nation by revenue. It reported $538.3 million in 2023 revenue, according to the ranking.
