Dive Brief:
- The Florida Department of Transportation's $2.3 billion contract for what it calls the I-4 Ultimate Project is going to a consortium called I-4 Mobility Partners, the state says.
- Skanska USA leads the team, which includes Granite Construction and Lane Construction, HDR and Jacobs Engineering for design, and ICA for operation and maintenance.
- The 21-mile project is scheduled to begin in early 2015 and will rehabilitate the highway and add toll lanes affecting 15 major interchanges and 75 bridges.
Dive Insight:
I-4 Mobility Partners says it has been committed to the project since 2007 and that many of the partners have worked together elsewhere. The group gets a 40-year public-private partnership concession agreement to build the road and operate the toll portion, says the Florida DOT.
