Dive Brief:
-
The most unusual request Oklahoma carpenter Randy Aschlerman ever received came from a man who loves to fish so much that he wants to do it from the rocking chair in his living room.
-
So Aschlerman, who is helping the homeowner build his 1,850-square-foot dream home in Skiatook, plans to cut a 4-foot square hole in the living room floor.
-
The hole will lead to a pond under the house, which the owner dug himself after he was turned away from a lake where he wanted to fish. He vowed to build a house where “nobody can tell me I can’t fish there,” according to a local TV station.
Dive Insight:
File this under the heading of “you never know what will sell a house.” In fact, the porch of the fisherman's home, which will be completed in about a month, overlooks the pond on three sides, so he could fish from there. But what he wanted was an indoor fishing hole, so he hired the trades he needed to make it work.
