The federal Department of Energy has brought out the third in a four-part series of 50% Advanced Energy Design Guides (AEDGs), Building Design + Construction reports.
The American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) has copies available for downloading.
"This latest guide will help architects, engineers, and contractors design and build highly efficient retail buildings, helping to save energy and cut store operational costs," BD+C said.
"These guides have been developed through the collaboration of ASHRAE, the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IES), and the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), with support from the Department of Energy (DOE), to help meet all of an owner’s energy performance requirements," ASHRAE says.
The guides take their name from a goal of cutting building energy consumption in half as a step toward achieving net-zero energy buildings in the future.
