The social media giant is bankrolling the building of a 394-unit apartment complex in Menlo Park, CA, where its giant corporate campus is located.
-
The complex, which will include a sports pub, a bicycle repair shop, and a pet spa, according to the San Jose Mercury News, will offer housing to some of the tech titan’s 4,6000 employees.
Dive Insight:
The newspaper speculated that the apartment complex might be the first of many housing projects Facebook initiates in the area as it expands the size of its headquarters and hires more employees. The social network titan is reportedly considering building thousands more.
The Mercury News quoted Fergus O’Shea, Facebook’s director of campus facilities, explaining: “Housing not only would allow for our employees to live near the campus, but would also reduce traffic.”
