An aerial video showing construction of the Apple Campus 2 has gone viral on YouTube, with more than 1.3 million views and 500 comments.
-
The eight-minute video captured by a drone camera was not authorized by Apple, which has not released much information about its doughnut-shaped future headquarters in Cupertino, Calif. The construction site is fenced off so the building-in-progress isn’t visible from ground level.
-
Apple has said its Campus 2 will house upward of 12,000 employees and will open in 2016.
Dive Insight:
Designed by British architect Norman Foster, the $5 billion, 2.8-square-foot building isn’t Apple’s first stealth project; the company keeps mum about product development, too. To that end, the new building, nestled amid a swath of 7,000 trees in a manmade forest, reportedly will include an underground auditorium for press events.
