What is your day job?
Special Correspondent for McGraw-Hill Construction, including Engineering News-Record (ENR), among other publications.
How did you get your start in the industry?
I began covering the Las Vegas building boom in late 1990s.
What do you think will be the biggest trends in construction/building over the next year or two?
The recession has ratcheted public scrutiny of tax dollar funded projects, resulting in greater accountability for municipalities. As such, I believe there will more public-private partnerships, innovative financing, and alternative project procurements in order to avoid change orders, cost overruns and lawsuits.
What is the one Twitter account that you would recommend building professionals follow and why?
@enrnews covers design and construction of high-rise buildings, stadiums, airports, long-span bridges, dams, tunnels, power plants, industrial plants, water and wastewater projects, and toxic waste cleanup projects. It also covers the construction industry's financial, legal, regulatory, safety, environmental, management, corporate and labor issues.
