What is your day job?
CEO of Green Builder Media.
How did you get your start in construction/product industry?
I’m a recovered venture capitalist. I used to invest in organic foods and natural products companies—that’s where I learned to love sustainable business. In 2004, I met my co-founder of Green Builder Media, internationally celebrated green builder Ron Jones. We merged his decades of green building expertise with my experience in growing green businesses, and the rest is history!
What do you think will be the biggest trends in construction/building over the next year or two?
Green is here to stay. Anything that has to do with energy efficiency, water conservation, and improved indoor air quality will likely see an uptick. There is a convergence between consumer electronics and the building industry, so buildings are going to become smarter and more connected. If I were still investing, I’d be betting my money on whole-building/home automation and renewable energy.

Green Builder Media (@greenbuildermag)—it’s the most topical source of information about the building sector today.
