What is your day job?
I’m news director at Architectural Record, a 120-year-old magazine owned by McGraw-Hill.
How did you get your start in construction/product industry?
I earned a graduate degree in arts journalism, with a focus on architecture. I started working at Architectural Record right after graduation (in 2007). Prior to my graduate studies, I was a newspaper reporter and editor.
What do you think will be the biggest trends in construction/building over the next year or two?
Biggest trends: I suspect we’ll continue to see growth in the healthcare market. There also seems to be a continued interest in socially conscious design and unique urban interventions (such as the High Line in New York City). Also, many architects are continuing to find opportunities abroad, particularly in Asia.
What is the one Twitter account that you would recommend building professionals follow and why?
@ArchRecord — it has 322,000 followers and counting!
