Cory Schubert has been promoted to the role of president of Big-D Construction’s Midwest office in St. Paul, Minnesota, the company announced Jan. 16.
His promotion comes not long after the 10-year anniversary of the office’s opening, for which Schubert was an integral team member as vice president of preconstructon, according to a release shared with Construction Dive. He was promoted to vice president of operations in 2016 before becoming senior vice president and managing director of the office in 2022.
Schubert has been invaluable in the division’s rapid growth in Minnesota, Michigan, Missouri and Wisconsin, the release said. Since its opening, Big-D Construction Midwest has built over 5,000 housing units and won more than $1 billion worth of work.
"Cory's exceptional ability to build and nurture teams has truly set him apart,” said Big-D Cos. Chief Operating Officer Troy Thompson. “His dedication to creating a unique and inclusive culture within the company has made a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to work with him.”
A graduate of Northern Iowa University with a degree in construction management, Schubert has been involved in Minnesota construction for nearly two decades, including stints with commercial real estate firm Ryan Cos. and Weis Builders, according to his LinkedIn account.
With more than 1,400 employees and an average annual revenue of more than $2.5 billion, Big-D Cos. focuses on a range of sectors including multifamily, commercial, warehouses and distribution centers.
Headquartered in Salt Lake City, Big-D has 17 offices in nine states from Minnesota to California. Its other affiliates include:
