More than 88% of construction managers who responded to an industry-wide poll on green building practices said they plan to incorporate some green systems or products into their projects over the next three years.

The survey by information and technology firm Timetric revealed that most of the green improvements those builders will make involve energy efficiency.

77% of the contractors said they favor green design as a way to make their buildings greener, while 70% said they prefer to rely on more efficient building operation and maintenance.

“Green” can mean more cash for the contractor: 48% of those in the poll said they expect a 10% boost in revenues over the next year as they adopt green building practices. On the other hand, 69% said the high initial cost of “going green” is a challenge.
